Brief profiles of the organizers:

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Vicente Ferreira de Lucena Jr is professor of Digital Systems in the University of Amazonas in Manaus, Brazil since 1991. He received his Ph.D. (Dr.-Ing.) at the University of Stuttgart in Germany where he worked with software engineering for automation systems. Since 2002 he has been working with software development for interactive digital TV in Brazil. He organized the first edition of this workshop in the Euro ITV 2010 in Tampere and the second edition in Lisbon. Email: vicente@ufam.edu.br

Prof. Dr. Artur Lugmayr describes himself as a creative thinker and his scientific work is situated between art and science. Starting from July 2009 he is full-professor for entertainment and media production management at the Department of Business Information Management and Logistics at the Tampere University of Technology (TUT): EMMi – Entertainment and Media Production Management (http://webhotel2.tut.fi/emmi/web/). His vision can be expressed as to create media experiences on future emerging media technology platforms. He is the head and founder of the New AMbient MUltimedia (NAMU) research group at the Tampere University of Technology (Finland) which is part of the Finnish Academy Centre of Excellence of Signal Processing from 2006 to 2011 (http://namu.cs.tut.fi). He is holding a Dr.-Techn. degree from the Tampere University of Technology (TUT, Finland), and is currently engaged in Dr.-Arts studies at the School of Motion Pictures, TV and Production Design (UIAH, Helsinki). He chaired the ISO/IEC ad-hoc group "MPEG-21 in broadcasting"; won the NOKIA Award of 2003 with the text book "Digital interactive TV and Metadata" published by Springer-Verlag in 2004; representative of the Swan Lake Moving Image & Music Award (http://www.swan-lake-award.org/); board member of MindTrek (http://www.mindtrek.org), EU project proposal reviewer; invited key-note speaker for conferences; organizer and reviewer of several conferences; and has contributed one book chapter and written over 25 scientific publications. Prof. Dr. Zhiwen Yu is a professor and vice dean in the School of Computer Science at Northwestern Polytechnical University, China. He received his B.Eng., M.Eng., and Ph.D. degree of Engineering in computer science and technology in 2000, 2003, and 2005, respectively, from Northwestern Polytechnical University. He has worked as an Alexander Von Humboldt Fellow at Mannheim University, Germany, from 2009 to 2010, a research fellow at Kyoto University, Japan in from 2007 to 2009, and a post-doctoral researcher at Nagoya University, Japan from 2006 to 2007. He has published more than 100 scientific papers in refereed journals and conferences, including ACM Computing Surveys, IEEE Pervasive Computing, IEEE TKDE, and PerCom. His research interests cover pervasive computing, context-aware systems, human-computer interaction, and mobile Internet. He is a senior member of IEEE and IEEE Computer Society. Dr. Arpan Pal has more than 20 years of experience in the area of Signal Processing, Communication and Real-time Embedded Systems. Currently he is with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), where he is heading research at Innovation Lab, Kolkata. He is also a member of Systems Research Council of TCS. His main responsibility is in conceptualizing and guiding R&D in the area of cyber-physical systems and ubiquitous computing with focus on applying the R&D outcome in the area Intelligent Infrastructure. His current research interests include Home Infotainment, Mobile phone and Camera based Sensing and Analytics, Physiological Sensing, M2M communications and Internet-of-Things based Applications. He has more than 35 publications till date in reputed Journals and Conferences along with a couple of Book Chapters. He has also filed for more than 35 patents and has four patents granted to him. He serves on the Technical Program Committee of several International Conferences. He is also a reviewer for Elsevier Journal for Signal Processing: Image Communications, EURASIP and Journal of Computer Technology and Applications. He had been earlier with Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) of Indian Govt. working on Missile Seeker Signal Processing. He has also worked with Macmet Interactive Technologies, leading their real-time systems group in the area of Interactive TV and Set-top boxes.
